What the Open Water Diver Course Involves

The open water diver course is the internationally recognised entry level scuba certification — the qualification needed to dive independently to 18 metres, at any recognised dive site in the world, with a certified buddy.It is presented in a three-part format, with each step occurring naturally from the previous.

Knowledge development introduces you to the science of diving, how to plan a safe dive, how to use and maintain your equipment and what to do in the broad spectrum of situations that the prepared diver is able to deal with confidently.

In confined water sessions (held in a pool or in a sheltered, shallow water area), you can practise all of the important diving skills with your instructor's guidance until each skill is second nature to you.

Then, in the real underwater world, all that learning comes to an end, and the effort is described as something extraordinary — Open Water Dives.
